You may be here because…
01Your ENT recommended tonsil or adenoid surgery, and you want more information before deciding
Tonsil and adenoid surgery is one of the most common procedures in children, and the recommendation is usually based on symptoms and an exam. Most children don’t have a sleep study beforehand.¹ If you’d like more information before deciding, our Sleep Test gives your child’s ENT or pediatrician overnight data to review with you.
1. Hoban TF, J Clin Sleep Med 2007 (fewer than 10% in US practice surveys, 2003–2006) ; Radhakrishnan et al., 2021 (12.8% of 27,837 children in Ontario).
02Your child had tonsil surgery, but you still notice symptoms
Surgery helps most children with sleep apnea, but for some, signs persist afterward, up to 1 in 4 otherwise healthy children, according to published studies.² If snoring, restless nights, or daytime tiredness haven’t gone away, our Sleep Test gives your child’s doctor overnight data to review at their follow-up.
2. Uwiera TC, Children 2021;8(11):944: about 75% resolution in otherwise healthy, non-obese children, 51–83% across all children.
03Your child’s dentist or orthodontist is treating their airway
Some dentists and orthodontists use palatal expanders or other oral appliances as part of a child’s airway care. With a prescription, our Sleep Test provides overnight oxygen and heart-rate data their care team can review during follow-up.
04You were told to wait and see
You may have even been told your child could grow out of their symptoms. Watchful waiting is a common approach, and some children’s symptoms do indeed ease as they grow. Overnight data recorded at home gives your child’s doctor a reference point for their next visit.
What are you noticing at night?
Tap a symptom to see why it may be worth a closer look.

My child snores most nights
Regular snoring is one of the patterns doctors may want to understand when assessing a child’s sleep. Overnight data can add context beyond what you can hear from the bedside.

Heavy, noisy breathing or gasping can be difficult to interpret just by watching. Recording what happens overnight gives your child’s doctor objective information to review alongside what you’ve noticed.

If you notice pauses in your child’s breathing while they sleep, bring it up with their doctor. Overnight data can help inform their assessment.

Frequent waking can leave you wondering how well your child is actually sleeping. Looking at their overnight data can help their doctor understand whether those restless nights deserve a closer look.

Being in bed all night doesn’t always mean a child slept well. Daytime tiredness can be another useful part of the picture for their doctor.

Sleep-related concerns do not always show up only at night. Our questionnaire captures daytime behaviors to give your child’s doctor more context.

An in-lab sleep study is the most comprehensive option, and hinlab doesn’t replace it. But when lab appointments can take months to access, hinlab gives your child’s doctor objective sleep information much sooner, helping them determine whether an in-lab study, ENT referral, or another next step is appropriate.
Two ways to get started
Already have a prescription from your child’s doctor? You can use it. If not, a hinlab physician can review your child’s Sleep Questionnaire and prescribe the test if they’re eligible.
Order the test now, then upload your prescription after checkout.
Your kit ships once we receive and validate your prescription.
Hinlab’s physician can prescribe the test for you. Order the test and complete our Sleep Questionnaire.

Overnight data is only part of the story
Your child’s report brings together what the cuff records and what you notice about their sleep.
Three nights of objective data from your child’s normal sleep environment, including oxygen patterns, heart rate, and movement.
You know your child better than anyone. 60+ questions turns what you’ve noticed into scored results, built on validated pediatric scales.
Together, what the Gabi cuff records and what you know about your child give their doctor a 360° view of their sleep. Our questionnaire lets you share details that can be difficult to cover during a short office visit.
Whatever the report shows, your doctor helps you decide what comes next
If the results look typical
Your doctor can consider the results alongside the symptoms you’re seeing and decide whether anything else should be explored.
If there are results worth evaluating
Your doctor can assess the possibility of sleep apnea or sleep-disordered breathing and determine what next steps are appropriate.
No matter the result, you’ll have objective information to bring to the next conversation about your child’s care.
The hinlab Sleep Test provides screening information, not diagnosis.
Made for kids, so testing can feel like a normal night at home
Gabi was built for pediatric use from the start, not adapted from an adult sleep device.
One pediatric device designed to support children from infancy through age 12.
The cuff stays out of the way while your child sleeps.

The hinlab Sleep Test can provide information that helps your child’s doctor screen for possible sleep-disordered breathing, including concerns that may warrant further evaluation for sleep apnea. It is not intended to diagnose sleep apnea or any other sleep disorder and does not replace a clinical evaluation or an in-lab sleep study. Results should be interpreted by your child’s healthcare provider in the context of your child’s symptoms, medical history, and other clinical information.
Yes. The hinlab Sleep Test can give your child’s doctor objective sleep information to consider as they evaluate next steps, including whether an ENT referral, additional testing, or surgery may be appropriate. The test does not determine whether surgery is needed; that decision is made by your child’s care team.
hinlab creates a Sleep Report from the overnight recordings and your questionnaire responses. The report will be shared with you or your prescribing physician, who can determine whether a referral or another next step is appropriate.
No. An in-lab sleep study is more comprehensive. The hinlab Sleep Test is a screening test that gives your child’s doctor additional information and may help them decide whether an in-lab study is necessary.
The test currently costs $399 out of pocket and is HSA/FSA-eligible.
